Ok first post in... more than a year! so now we're back into this... maybe... ok, this is a paper that i wrote for English class after we read the book Farenheit 451.  We could choose any book that we have read to save while every other book gets burned, so of course i chose farenheit 451 cuz we just read it... and this was due... well let's just say i wuz 2 weeks late turning in this... and it wuz supposed to be an IN CLASS test ; ).  So if ur wondering why this is important to post in a xanga? well i wrote this for SISTER Mary Catherine, our english teacher, and completely destroyed my religion as best i could... and this is how a truely feel so if u don't like it... what can i say other than.... FUCK OFF!
anyways... ENJOY ^_^

The Book that I would Save

Montag was placed in a precarious situation because he had to choose whether to risk getting arrested or killed to protect books, or to continue to go along with his job like nothing was a problem.  If I was placed in his situation I would choose to save a book because books are an important part of our society and our past.  The book that I would save would be the Bible, because it is a book created by man used to control man.  Before you think that I am crazy for saying this, just think for a minute; what would the world be like without religion?  Religion is a controlling force, which rivals civil law in power.  Without the bible there would be little social order, even though not everyone believes in religion or reads the bible, it still keeps people in line.

The bible has many authors, including Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, and they all have their own lesson to teach people.  The universal theme of the bible is to serve the Lord and to live a good life.  People gain a set of morals through their interpretation and understanding of the bible as well as what other people have taught them, and those people have probably learned their morals through the bible.  When the bible was written the main intent was to unify people in such a manner as to create a more peaceful nation, where everyone loves one another, and there is a balance in society.  The poor should be respected, and the rich should try to help the poor.

The bible instills values that society goes completely against.  To be successful in the eyes of God, you have to live a good Holy Christian life, but in the eyes of society to be successful you need to have money, power, and a beautiful wife.  God is the all powerful figure who will punish us if we do something wrong, but he is also all forgiving so we should never give up on him, and he will never give up on us.  When people feel like they have no where else to turn, God gives them hope and gives their life a new meaning.  So whether God exists or doesn’t exist, he is still an essential figure in society, and without him we would be lost.

Alas nacer vi en los hombros
De las mujeres hermosas:
Y salir de los escombros,
Volando las mariposas.

Todo es hermoso y constante,
Todo es música y razón,
Y todo, como el diamante,
Antes que luz es carbón.

Yo he visto en la noche oscura
Llover sobre mi cabeza
Los rayos de lumbre pura
De la divina belleza.
